Mallawa Waterfront

These clients came to me with a waterfront home that wasn't living up to its address. A generous footprint, good bones, and a canal frontage that deserved more than it was getting. The design response worked in layers. A new gable roof replaced the existing flat form, lifting the roofline and drawing light deeper into the living spaces. A stepped garden terrace descended toward the water's edge, anchored by a sunken lounge and fire pit that sit low in the landscape, framing the canal rather than competing with it. Material choices followed the setting, stone, timber, and water-worn textures that feel like they belong to the place.
